Choose zero with two neighbours on each side and the ordinary single-zero wheel gives you 3, 26, 0, 32 and 15. Those five pockets sit together around the rim. They do not form a run on the numbered betting grid, and the selection places five separate straight-up stakes.

For an adult reader inspecting roulette neighbours, that is the first distinction to make. The chosen chip value belongs to each selected number. At an illustrative £2 per number, the five-pocket selection commits £10, not £2. These are worked examples, not recorded bets or recommended selections.

Follow the rim through zero

Pragmatic Play's Live Roulette game help hosted by YesPlay shows the racetrack in wheel order. Around zero, its sequence reads:

35 → 3 → 26 → 0 → 32 → 15 → 19

The arrows follow successive physical pockets. Starting at zero and moving two places in either direction picks 26 and 3 on one side, 32 and 15 on the other. Zero is part of the circular order; it is not a boundary that stops the selection.

The help document describes a default selection of the chosen number plus two neighbours on each side. Its control allows between one and nine neighbours per side. The table uses the same zero-centred example and one chip on each distinct number.

Zero-centred neighbours on the cited single-zero wheel; £2 is an illustrative unit, not a table minimum
Neighbours on each side of zeroCovered pockets, in wheel orderUnit bets and illustrative total
126 → 0 → 323 unit bets × £2 = £6
23 → 26 → 0 → 32 → 155 unit bets × £2 = £10
335 → 3 → 26 → 0 → 32 → 15 → 197 unit bets × £2 = £14

For these symmetric selections, the count is twice the neighbours per side, plus the centre. The upper setting described in this document would therefore select 19 pockets: nine, the centre, and nine more. That is a count of bets, not a promise that every casino offers this control or accepts every chip value.

Spielbank Wiesbaden's published roulette leaflet supplies another concrete example: 14 with two neighbours covers 1, 20, 14, 31 and 9. The leaflet labels it a five-chip wager. Its file dates from 2020 and remains publicly available; we use it to illustrate the wheel order, not to verify today's table limits or promotions.

A split on the main grid follows different geography. It joins numbers sharing a permitted betting line. The racetrack helps place a group of bets whose numbers instead sit beside one another on the wheel.

Voisins du Zéro is a named package

A generic neighbours selection centred on zero is different from the named Voisins du Zéro bet. In the Pragmatic Play document, Voisins covers 17 distinct numbers using nine chips, with a mixture of bet types.

Two chips go on the 0/2/3 street. Five more are distributed one apiece across the splits 4/7, 12/15, 18/21, 19/22 and 32/35. The remaining two go on the 25/26/28/29 corner. Nine chips do not mean nine straight-up selections, and the 17 covered numbers do not each carry one chip.

The same help sheet gives Tiers du Cylindre six chips across six splits, covering 12 numbers. Orphelins uses five chips to cover eight distinct numbers. Its splits 14/17 and 17/20 both include 17, which is why counting the chip placements and counting unique numbers produce different totals.

The smaller 0 Game uses four chips to cover seven numbers: a straight-up on 26 and the splits 0/3, 12/15 and 32/35. At the illustrative £2 chip value, these packages would cost £18 for Voisins, £12 for Tiers, £10 for Orphelins and £8 for 0 Game. None has the same construction as five equal straight-up bets around zero.

Those names identify arrangements within the cited rules. They do not establish which packages, limits or variants a particular account can access. Our guide to casino-game versions explains that gap between a familiar name and the configuration actually loaded.

One winning number does not repay every stake

Return to the five £2 straight-up bets, using the document's ordinary 35:1 payout. If one selected number wins, that £2 wager returns £72: £70 of winnings plus its £2 stake. The four losing stakes return nothing. Against the original £10 committed, the net gain is £62, not £70. If the ball misses all five selections, the loss is £10.

This calculation excludes other wagers, fees and any multiplier feature. The roulette payout guide separates profit ratios from money returned; a different paytable needs a different calculation.

Under a model with 37 equally likely pockets, five distinct selections cover 5/37 of the possible results, about 13.51%. Any other five distinct pockets have the same combined probability in that model. Their position beside one another does not create an advantage, and previous results do not improve the next spin under the independence assumption covered in our gambler's fallacy explainer.

The useful confirmation is the set of accepted bets and the total committed to the round. In the cited interface, Total Bet records that combined amount. A £2 chip selector can sit above a £10 neighbours selection because one control names the unit and the other records all five stakes.
